Leeds dentist uses anaesthesia to treat dental phobic patients

1:29 pm

Are you terrified of going to the dentist because you feel that the treatment will cause you a lot of pain? You are right up to a point, because some dental treatments do cause a great deal of discomfort, although most people come to the dentist psychologically prepared to handle it. If however, you belong to the category of people who are dental phobic, it is very unlikely that you will even step into the dentist’s clinic. Many people get this way because of bad or painful experiences they had while in the dentist’s chair, particularly when they were young.
This phobia of dentists and dental treatments could turn out to be very costly for you because teeth deteriorate very fast if any problem they have is not treated in time. A local Leeds dental practice believes that the only way to handle patients such as you is by using anaesthesia. After all, the job of cleaning and repairing teeth has to go on, and if this is the only way to get it done, then dentists should use it to calm the fears of the anxious patient, even if they are irrational.
Make it a point to visit this dental practice in order to get your teeth cleaned or repaired easily. The friendly surroundings and well trained staff will ensure that you lose your fear of dental treatments. What is even better is that most people lose their crippling fear of dentists after they have had one pleasant experience.

Dental News: Winston Churchill’s Teeth Fetch $24 000 at Auction

1:02 pm

Saw this amusing article in the Toronto Star, here’s the teaser quote:

LONDON—A partial set of dentures used by former British leader Winston Churchill — described as the teeth that saved the world — sold at auction Thursday for £15,200 ($24,556).

The upper dentures, one of several sets specially made for the wartime prime minister, were used to maintain his distinctively slurred speaking style. They were bought by a British collector of Churchill memorabilia at an auction in England at three times the estimated price.

The set of dentures were unique because they were designed to be loose-fitting so that Churchill could preserve the diction famous from World War II-era radio broadcasts, experts said.

Get a Better Smile with Invisalign in Leeds

7:10 pm

Are you looking for a way to transform your smile but do not want to wear fixed metal braces? Then Invisalign is the best solution as it is a set of aligners that can give you a brand new smile without any of the discomforts of braces. Contact a dentist trained in this technology in Leeds and soon you can notice compliments coming your way.
Invisalign uses a cutting-edge technology to straighten out teeth and is highly recommended by all leading orthodontists. During the first visit, the dentist will take a three-dimensional image of your teeth which is then fed into sophisticated software to create a set of Invisalign aligners that are tailor-made according to the shape and size of your teeth. These aligners are removable and hence give you the freedom to enjoy your favorite foods and also clean your teeth effectively.
Invisalign is the perfect solution to answer many types of dental complaints like crowding, spacing, overbite, deep bite and underbite. These aligners are clear and hence not embarrassing to wear in public unlike metal braces which stick out and make you feel uncomfortable in social gatherings. Around twenty to thirty sets of aligners are created for you during the entire treatment period depending on the way your teeth are pushed back into place.
These custom-made aligners should be worn at all times except while eating and cleaning your teeth and you will soon begin to notice the teeth straightening out improving and enhancing the beauty of your smile slowly but steadily. Invisalign is an amazing way to get teeth straightening done which is extremely important for ideal oral health.

Your Headaches Could Be Caused By TMJ (Jaw Point) Problems, Says City Of Leeds Dentist

7:10 pm

Anybody suffering from TMJ (jaw point) problems will soon realize that their pain is not limited to the jaws. This disease is caused by problems in the jaws as a result of which the muscles have to work extra hard in order to do regular activities like chewing or talking. It results in pain in the head, the neck and even in the shoulders.
According to a very well known dentist in the City of Leeds, most people don’t even realize they have a serious problem with their jaws. They keep looking for a cure for their headaches and for other related symptoms such as buzzing in the ears or a sinusitis problem that never seems to go away.
If a person suffering from TMJ (Jaw Point) problems has a practice of getting regular dental checkups, this problem will be brought to the forefront immediately. An experienced dentist will be able to correlate the headaches and other symptoms with teeth that have been ground down considerably although this is not necessarily a symptom for jaw problems. Most people don’t realize it, but even sitting badly at a computer can hurt the jaw.
In conclusion, you should never give up the search for what is causing your headaches. If untreated, problems if the jaw will only get worse and you will have a difficult time trying to lead a normal life. A trip to a good dentist is absolutely necessary so that you can find a solution to your jaw problems.
